Wedding Limousine Alternatives
The traditional white limousine is standard for most weddings, but it is far from the only option. There are many other stylish ways for the bride and groom to travel. Check out this list of wedding limousine alternatives.
The best form of transportation for your wedding is one which matches the general style of your event. If you are having a Winter Wonderland theme wedding, complete with a white fur wrap and snowflake crystal bridal jewelry, you need a conveyance to match. The perfect form of travel for this wedding theme would be a horse drawn sleigh.
For some brides and grooms, their wedding is a chance to really indulge in luxury. Sure a stretch limo is luxurious, but it is no where near as elegant as hiring a Bentley or a vintage Rolls Royce for the wedding day. You may never have the chance to own such a fine car, so why not treat yourself to a ride in one on the most special day of your life? Luxury automobiles with chauffeurs can be easily rented in most cities.
Maybe you and your groom love living life in the fast lane. If your idea of the perfect wedding attire is a sexy silk sheath with dramatic crystal bridal jewelry, bring this sense of style to your transportation. A Porsche or other sleek sports car could be the perfect way to make an impressive entrance to your wedding, not to mention a fast getaway at the end of the reception. Just don’t try this with a full skirted wedding gown, as it will not fit in a sleek sportscar.
If your wedding is on the water, a boat might be a great form of transportation for the bride and groom. Imagine yourself floating away on a beautiful sailboat under a starlit sky at the end of your reception. Or for a casual afternoon wedding, the bride and groom could hop into a canoe and paddle away down a lazy river. I even knew of one couple who rented a giant inflatable dragon boat for their riverside reception getaway. Talk about leaving a lasting impression!

When you are planning a wedding, it is important not to overlook any of the important details, like how you will get there. It is not only the bride and groom who require transportation either, the entire wedding party (and sometimes even the entire wedding) must be accounted for. Here is what you need to know about wedding day transportation.
First of all, the bride needs a way to get to the ceremony site, as do her bridesmaids. It is customary for all the members of the bridal party to assemble in one place to get dressed. This is a fun ritual, and it is also very practical, as the attendants can help each other with zippers, clasps on bridesmaid jewelry, etc. (Certainly someone will also need to help the bride get ready also.) Usually the bride and her attendants will travel together to the ceremony site in a limo. This is very convenient and it ensures no stragglers.
The men will often make their own way to the ceremony site in their own cars, but they may also hire a car if they wish. From there, it is time to get from the ceremony site to the reception venue. The bride and groom will travel together in the same limo which she rode in with the bridesmaids. No one else should ride in the car with the newlyweds, as this is their special private time to share together. Of course, there are other options, such as renting an antique car, a horse and carriage, or even a tandem bicycle.
At the end of the evening, more transportation will be needed. The bride and groom will need some sort of vehicle for their grand exit. It is a very fun part of a wedding when the newlyweds dash off together to their waiting car while their guests cheer and wish them well. A tip for the wedding guests: if your friends have hired an antique Bentley as their getaway vehicle, the chauffeur may not take kindly to having it decked out with “Just Married” written on the windows in soap or lipstick, so tread lightly!

Your wedding is one of the happiest times of your life. It is kind of a bummer, but you do have to consider a few practicalities, even as you plan for your magical day. Here are a few things that every wedding host needs to keep in mind…
The biggest potential headache when planning any type of party is alcohol. Even at a wedding, where people are all dressed up in their finest clothing and wedding jewelry, there are going to be a few guests who over-indulge. (Depending on your circle of friends and family, it might be more than a few! You know best.)
There are several steps that you can take before your wedding to ensure that things do not get out of control during it. The first is to plan for adequate food during the cocktail hour. There is no better recipe for a bunch of drunk guests than serving too much liquor and not enough food. Order more appetizers than you think are called for, especially if you know that your friends like to get into the spirit of a party.
One thing that many couples do these days is to provide transportation from the reception back to the hotel where most guests are staying. This actually achieves a few things. It eliminates the concerns (both human and legal) about intoxicated drivers; it also will help you end the reception at a certain time, which is useful if your venue charges overtime fees.
Alcohol is not the only thing that a responsible host should plan for. If you are having a winter wedding, make sure that all walkways and steps to your ceremony and reception sites will be completely cleared of any snow or ice that may have accumulated. And don’t let the venue get away with just throwing down a bunch of salt – it will ruin the hems of long dresses and silk shoes!
Wedding planning should be a very fun thing, and you hate to have to spend time on the less glamorous aspects of it. Keep in mind that a little advance planning can go a long way towards having a more perfect wedding. By being a responsible host, you can ensure that all of your guests will have only wonderful memories of your special day.
